FAQ
What’s a zine?
Zines are like little magazines, but are independently made and don’t contain advertising. They’re typically art-based and are usually made by one or two people.
Why did you create Heart Container?
Heart Container exists as a love letter to games and to provide gamers an outlet with which to artistically express their thoughts and feelings about games in a fun, charitable way.
Are you making money off of this project?
No, I’m actually losing money on it. I pay for domain costs, printing costs, and much, much more. Printing in color is basically impossible as it’s far more expensive than black and white. I’m looking into putting a separate donation button on my personal blog so that people can contribute if they want to help out with costs.
The zine is not created for profit. All proceeds received are donated directly to Child’s Play, a fantastic charity working to provide sick children in North America with toys, books, and games to play with and enjoy while they’re in the hospital.
How often are issues published?
Heart Container is essentially a one woman show, save for contributed content, so issues will be published as often as can be kept up with. We are looking to publish Heart Container four times a year. People are already asking about issue #2, which will likely arrive in the summer of 2012.
Can I submit to Heart Container?
Of course! Just head over to the submission page and read the guidelines before you submit.
Help, my donation on the ChipIn widget isn’t showing! Did it go through?
Don’t worry, your donation went through. We have learned that the ChipIn widget sometimes has trouble showing donations if you don’t clear your cookies. All transactions will go through, it’s just the widget doesn’t always reflect that properly. Clear your cookies and you’ll see that the donation worked. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us. We have a record of every single person who donated, so we’ll know that you did, don’t worry.
